I recently wrote about wants vs. needs. In an effort to simply my life, I have been trying to stick to needs. A friend asked: What about those wants that do not go away? Those pulls of the heart?
Irrational, but we still want it.
Inexplicable, how often it crosses our minds.
What do we do with those obviously unnecessary, but seemingly life-giving things, ideas, actions, people?
I suppose you first need to evaluate what this obsession is telling you about yourself. Next, what consequences can you foresee? Do you want those repercussions in your life? Every action leaves ripples. How big a ripple will this make?
Now, go for it!
They say that you should never give up on anything you cannot go a day without thinking about. So if you have already learned something about yourself. If you can already guess (use your intuition) the consequences, both good and bad, and you find that you are still thinking about it, then it is a pull of the heart, a whisper from your soul. And those always need to be answered and followed.
At least I think so.
